The 2016 college football season has ended, but why look back? Instead, let’s look ahead to 2017 — specifically, let’s look ahead to the 10 best games on the opening weekend of the 2017 season.

It’s a good weekend — heck, it features the non-conference game of the season — but nothing like the tremendous opening weekend of the ’16 season. So, get out your day planner, flip to Labor Day weekend and start jotting down some notes.

Yes, we realize that first weekend is a long way away. There will be some things that should pique your interest in the ensuing eight months, though; there’s National Signing Day, the NCAA tournament, spring practice, the NFL draft, the NBA playoffs and (if you’re so inclined) major league baseball. Then — voila! — it’s August and fall camps open. After that, folks, it’s smooth sailing.
