Fans will not have to pay as much to attend the Belk College Kickoff Game.

For this year’s season opener against NC State on Sept. 2 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, the price for game tickets will be lower than what they were when South Carolina played North Carolina in the same game in 2015.

For that game, tickets ranged from $70 to $258 and were called “Super Bowl prices” by then-South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier.

Tickets for the 2017 game range from $65 to $245, prices that South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner said will allow for fans from both school’s to attend.

Will Webb, executive director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, told The State he does not believe price was an issue in 2015.

“The expensive seats sold,” Webb said. “The Panthers priced the suites at around $600 a seat and had a waiting list. We sold out our club seats. We sold out our lower level seats. Upper level seats didn’t sell. We don’t know why.”

Tanner and Webb said attendance will be better for the 2017 game because it’s being played on a Labor Day weekend Saturday instead of a Thursday night.

In 2015, some 20,000 seats were left empty for the South Carolina-UNC game at Bank of America Stadium. The Gamecocks won 17-13.

Ticket Prices according to Belk College Kickoff Game website:

Club A: $245; Club B: $200; Club C: $200; Lower A: $135; Lower B: $135; Lower C: $100; Lower D: $100; Upper A: $80; Upper B: $80; Upper C: $80; Upper D: $80; Upper E: $65.
