Three-star outside linebacker Brian Johnson has committed to Texas A&M, he announced Friday on Twitter.

“The recruitment process has been a true blessing, without God none of this would have been possible!” Johnson wrote. “I appreciate all the college coaches that offered me a scholarship to continue my education and play football in their program!

“To my little league coaches, Coach Payne, Dangelo and Joubert, you guys laid the foundation for me, and I would like to say thanks! My family, my brother and sister always supported me! Rain sleet and shine couldn’t keep my parents away; I could always count on you to be at every game and just about every practice! They would drive me from the East Coast to West and back again if I ask them to! You guys have no clue how much I truly love and appreciate you!

“I am announcing that I will be continuing my education and playing football on the next level at the Texas A&M University!! !! #GigEmgang18”

Johnson, from Manvel (Texas) High, made his commitment to the Aggies following an unofficial visit to the school Wednesday. He also made unofficial visits to Texas A&M on March 31, Nov. 12, 2016 and Oct. 8, 2016.

Johnson, who is 6-foot-1½ and 185 pounds, ultimately chose Texas A&M over offers from nearly 20 other schools, including Arizona State, Baylor, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Utah and West Virginia.

Johnson is ranked as a top-50 outside linebacker in the nation and top-100 overall prospect in Texas, according to 247Sports Composite.

Texas A&M’s 2018 class total jumps to 11 with Johnson’s commitment. It’s currently ranked by 247Sports as the No. 12 class in the nation and No. 3 class in the SEC behind LSU and Tennessee.

Running backs coach Clarence McKinney is Johnson’s primary recruiter for the Aggies; defensive coordinator John Chavis is his secondary recruiter.
