“I would like to thank all of the 14 other colleges that have shown interest in me and given me an opportunity to further my education as well as enhance my skills as a football player,” Hines wrote. “I enjoyed all of the visits to the schools and love shown from the other coaches, but I feel that only one stood out perfectly.
“I’m very blessed to announce that I am committing to Louisiana State University. I can’t wait to join the family. #GeauxTigers.”
The 6-foot-2½, 350-pound Hines also holds Texas, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M, Arizona, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Texas Tech. He was offered by LSU on Jan. 31.
Tigers offensive line coach Jeff Grimes has served as Hines’ primary recruiter.
Hines is LSU’s 12th commitment in its 2018 class and is the Tigers’ third commitment in the past eight days, following three-star offensive lineman Cole Smith and three-star wide receiver Jaray Jenkins.
Smith, who likely will play center at LSU, is the only other offensive lineman currently committed in the class.
Hines is considered a top-20 offensive guard prospect nationally and a top-35 prospect overall in Texas, according to 247Sports Composite.
