4-star WR Quinton Torbor excited about future at Mississippi State

To say that it has been a good week for Joe Moorhead on the recruiting trail would be an understatement. Mississippi State received a commitment on Tuesday from three-star quarterback Garrett Shrader and on Wednesday followed that up landing the commitment of four-star wide receiver Quinton Torbor.

“I got invited there for junior day, I did not have an offer from them and I didn’t know much about them,” Torbor told GN. “After the junior day I left with an offer and I left with a new thought about Mississippi State.

“The coaching staff there wasn’t all about football the first time we met them, they were about family and I liked that. The coaching staff at Mississippi State reminds me of the one I have at my high school.

“It was only a matter of time until I committed to Mississippi State. I was just weighing all my options and looking at stuff. But, I thought I might as well go ahead and do it if that’s where I really want to go.”

Torbor, (6-feet-2, 182 pounds) from Destrehan, (LA.) High, is a top-350 overall talent nationally and a top-15 prospect in Louisiana for the 2019 class.

“It crosses my mind a lot,” Torbor said regarding his high ranking. “It took me a while to get used to it because I didn’t think about it much at first, but when I went to a couple of camps, I had a group of defensive backs next to me saying ‘man I don’t want to go against this dude.’

“That’s what made me see that I was really highly sought after. After that I had all this coaches coming to see me to see if I was the real deal.”

Torbor, who chose Mississippi State over offers from Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and others, is very excited to be able to play college football in the SEC.

“It is big man and growing up I didn’t expect it. I was just trying to get to the next level of football and I didn’t know much about offers or things like that.”

Torbor has had conversations with Mississippi State quarterback commit Garrett Shrader and likes what he sees out of him on the field.

“I got a text from the coaches and they sent me Garrett’s film and I watched it and liked everything I saw,” Torbor said. “With all his offers, I saw the stuff that he turned down, and I thought that was big that he committed to them.”
