Florida was well-represented in the 2017 NFL draft, with eight players being selected. Only three schools (Michigan, Alabama and Miami) had more.
Seven of the eight were defensive players; that means that in the past two drafts, 12 of the 15 Gators drafted were defenders. The offense should be better represented in the next few drafts.
As we already look toward the 2018 NFL draft, here’s a list of the five Gators players who appear most likely to be selected.
OT Martez Ivey
The buzz: Ivey (6 feet 5, 305 pounds) has an outstanding chance to be a first-round pick with his combination of size and agility. He’s better than former Gators OT D.J. Humphries, whom Arizona took in the first round in 2015. Ivey earned second-team All-SEC accolades last season at guard, where he had started 20 games in his first two seasons at UF. The true junior now is at left tackle – tackle is his natural position – and his value should skyrocket this fall.
