Texas A&M has jumped out with one of the highest ranked recruiting classes early in the 2019 cycle. Jimbo Fisher and company have done this by landing five- and four-star prospects, Top 200 national players with offers from all of the sport’s major powers.
Linebacker RJ Orebo does not fit that profile.
Orebo, from Dayton, TX near Houston had no other Power 5 scholarship offers when the Aggies put one in front of him Friday. Sunday, he accepted.

Making Orebo’s situation more interesting is that the 3-star prospect, who stands 6-foot-6, may have been a more prized basketball recruit. He had previously been committed to play hoops at Sam Houston State according to 247 Sports.
What Orebo does possess is a strong Aggie lineage. He is cousins with both the Aggies’ all-time career leader in touchdowns, Jovorskie Lane, and the team’s starting center, Erik McCoy.
