Auburn coach Gus Malzahn has hired a former Nick Saban staffer for an important off-field job. And that former staffer is an Alabama alum.
AZCentral.com reported that Malzahan has hired Arizona State assistant athletic director for recruiting Patrick Suddes to be the Tigers’ director of player personnel.
Suddes served as the associate director of football operations at Alabama from 2007-12 and in the same role at Texas in 2013. He had been at ASU for the past two season. He also worked for Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban as a graduate assistant in 2004 at LSU.
Earlier this week, Malzahn hired Arizona State running backs coach Kodi Burns, an Auburn alum, to serve as his wide receivers coach at Auburn. Burns, who had been at Arizona State for about a month, is the replacement for Dameyune Craig, who left for LSU over the weekend.
Burns spent the 2015 season as wide receivers coach at Middle Tennessee State, then left for Arizona State in early January.
