Four-star wide receiver George Pickens became the first commitment of Auburn’s 2019 recruiting class Friday.

Pickens publicly announced his decision to reporters during an unofficial visit to the school. He then reaffirmed his commitment through retweets on his Twitter account.

Pickens, from Hoover (Ala.) High, picked the Tigers over offers from Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Jacksonville State and Mississippi State. He received his offer from Auburn on June 17 after attending a camp at the school.

Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner and wide receivers coach Kodi Burns are Pickens’ primary and secondary recruiters for the Tigers.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Pickens is ranked by 247Sports Composite as a top-20 wide receiver in his class, as well as a top-five overall prospect in Alabama and top-110 overall prospect in the nation.

Auburn has eight commitments in its 2018 class, which 247Sports currently ranks No. 44 in the nation and No. 10 in the SEC.
