John Cubelic

John Cubelic is a former Auburn University Wide Receiver whose ties to Auburn and the SEC extend almost 20 years. Brother of former Auburn Center, Cole Cubelic, John has been exposed to the inner-workings of college football since his own playing career began. During his time at Auburn, John played under Head Coaches Tommy Tuberville and Gene Chizik. The Tigers Offensive Coordinator during John’s final season was current Head Coach Gus Malzahn. Coaches and players from John’s tenure on The Plains are currently coaching at several programs across the country including Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, California, Cincinnati, Oklahoma and Notre Dame. John has been a contributor to various weekly radio shows including WJOX in Birmingham, WUMP in Huntsville and on SiriusXM College Sports Nation. John graduated from Auburn in December 2009 with a degree in Mass Communication: Radio, Television and Film. Since then, he was worked around the world in film production and as a live event producer in New York. John’s expertise is derived from playing under four different offensive systems in college, experiencing a coaching transition, witnessing and being a part of battles for starting positions as well as playing four seasons in the SEC, including three bowl victories. However, his perspective extends beyond the field of play and to the impact that college football is having on our society; from the coaches and players, to the booster and alumni, and finally to the fans. John’s goal is to give readers a better understanding of not only the X’s and O’s but also the complexities of life outside the arena.
