During his 20-year NFL career, Brett Favre threw passes to more than a few different wide receivers. And of the ones he thought were the best, three of them played at South Carolina.

While speaking at Will Muschamp’s coaches clinic Friday night in Columbia, South Carolina, Favre praised former Gamecocks receivers Sterling Sharpe, Robert Brooks and Sidney Rice at their alma mater.

“Three of the greatest receivers I’ve ever played are from right here: Sterling Sharpe, Robert Brooks, and Sidney Rice,” Favre said, according to the official South Carolina football Twitter account.

Favre played with Sharpe and Brooks during his 16-year run as quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, which lasted from 1992-2007. He was teammates with Sharpe from 1992-94 and Brooks from 1992-98.

During his two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings in 2009-10, Favre played with Rice.

Statistically, all three players put up strong numbers during their time playing with Favre.

Sharpe, Brooks and Rice all also rank in the top 10 in South Carolina history in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Of the three receivers, both Brooks and Rice are also from the state of South Carolina.

“Really good football came out of this college and this state,” Favre said.

After concluding the speaking engagement, South Carolina thanked Favre on Twitter.

During the Gamecocks’ practice Saturday morning, Favre threw passes to receivers.
