Ohio State filled a big need in its 2019 recruiting class by landing 5-star receiver Garrett Wilson.
Wilson is ranked by 247Sports as the fifth best player at his position, and with Parris Campbell, Terry McLaurin, and Johnnie Dixon moving on after this upcoming season, Wilson could be a candidate to see playing time early in playing career.
The impact of the 6’0”, 180-pound Lake Travis (Austin, Texas) athlete committing goes beyond that, however.
He will be reunited in Columbus, Ohio with Lake Travis quarterback Matthew Baldwin, who enrolled at OSU in January.

Wilson continued the momentum the Buckeyes built throughout the month of April, a time period during which the Scarlet and Gray received verbal commitments from five players in addition to the receiver.
In fact, the very same weekend Wilson tweeted his intention to join the Buckeyes, Mansfield, Ohio linebacker Cade Stover and Potomac, Maryland safety Bryson Shaw also indicated they would be playing their college ball at Ohio State.
The Buckeyes moved up to 7th nationally in the 247Sports rankings immediately following Wilson’s announcement. They are now the top Big Ten team in those standings.
Finally, Ohio State has been active recruiting the state of Texas, and Wilson promises to help in that department.
Buckeye Nation… if you think i ain’t bringing some Texas boys with me, you’re wrong. So happy to be apart of the family, Go Bucks!

Running back Noah Cain, wide receiver Elijah Higgins, and quarterback Grant Gunnel are all considered players who could be impacted by Wilson’s commitment.
