Eric Berry went out of his way to give food to the homeless in Knoxville, Tennessee this week.

Berry, the former Tennessee Volunteers star who now plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, was caught by one Facebook user in the act who then shared the moment of the encounter on Facebook.

“He order food to go,” wrote Rebecca Scott Mills, the Facebook user. “… As we were leaving Eric was in front of us carrying his to-go food. What happened next brought tears to my eyes. He delivered the food to 3 homeless people on streets and the kneeled down and prayed with them.

“To see a professional athlete have such a respect for humanity is impressive! May he be blessed beyond measure for kindness and generosity!”

Attached in the Facebook post was a photo, which purportedly was Berry as he presented the food.

Berry was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in late 2014 but returned to action for the Chiefs by the following season in 2015 when he earned NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors.

Berry also is a three-time first-team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection. At Tennessee, he won was a unanimous All-American in both 2008 and 2009.
