Wearing o’ the green: College football’s best green uniforms

With St. Patrick’s Day here, let’s celebrate college football’s various shades of green. No matter what team you root for, these uniforms will leave you green with envy. OK, enough with the word play – let’s get to the jerseys.

15. NOTRE DAME

While not the primary jersey color of the Irish, they are more famous for their green alternate jerseys than any other school.  Notre Dame last wore green jerseys against Boston College at Fenway Park (above) on November 21, 2015. Dan Devine’s Irish team wore green 42 consecutive games between the middle of the 1977 season and the end of 1980. But Lou Holtz only went green twice as coach. Despite the rich history of Notre Dame football, the Shamrock Series green uniforms last worn are an abomination.
