Dak Prescott surprises young son of slain Mississippi deputy

Dak Prescott gave the son of a slain Mississippi deputy a surprise meeting Saturday.

Prescott met with 10-year-old Nash Durr, whose father, Deputy William Durr, was killed while responding to a domestic violence call on May 27 in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

According to The Clarion-Ledger, Nash’s mother, Tressie, and other members of the Durr family told Nash they were going to visit a botanical garden when instead they surprised him by going to meet with Prescott instead.

Nash, who is a Mississippi State fan, and his family took photos with Prescott at their meeting.

Shortly after Durr’s death, the Durr family released a statement with a photo of him, Tressie and Nash in Mississippi State attire. Nash, specifically, was wearing a No. 15 Mississippi State Dak Prescott jersey in the photo.

Durr, 36, of the Lincoln County (Miss.) Sheriff’s Department, was among the eight victims killed in the shooting spree.

During his time at Mississippi State, Prescott’s mother died of cancer. He has spoken on a number of occasions about how he tries to honor her.

Prescott enters his second season as the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys this fall.
