Florida coach Dan Mullen has finalized his staff with the hiring of veteran assistant Ron English, who worked for Mullen as the safeties coach at Mississippi State this past season.

English, 49, also will coach safeties at Florida. He is a former head coach at Eastern Michigan and has been a coordinator at Michigan, Louisville and San Jose State. He also has been a secondary coach at Arizona State and San Diego State.

His hiring completes the staff of 10 assistants. English is one of five assistants who came with Mullen from Mississippi State. The others are defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales, co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach John Hevesy and running backs coach/special teams coordinator Greg Knox.

The one holdover is Ja’Juan Seider, who will be tight ends coach; he had been the running backs coach under Jim McElwain.

The other assistants are quarterback coach Brian Johnson (he had been offensive coordinator/ quarterbacks coach at Houston), defensive line coach Sal Sunseri (linebackers coach of the Oakland Raiders), cornerbacks coach Charlton Warren (secondary coach at Tennessee) and linebackers coach Christian Robinson (defensive grad assistant at Mississippi State).
