During the day Tuesday, it was announced that Derek Mason had signed a three-year contract extension with Vanderbilt. On Tuesday night, he was cheering on the Nashville Predators.

Mason shared a photo of himself in a Predators jersey on Twitter ahead of the game.

The Predators played and beat the Anaheim Ducks, 2-1, in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals in the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. With the win, the Predators went up 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.

With two more wins in the series, the Predators would move on to the Stanley Cup Finals to take on the Ottawa Senators-Pittsburgh Penguins winner. The Predators, founded in 1998, have never won their conference.

Vanderbilt is coming off its first bowl appearance under Mason. The Commodores are 13-24 overall and 5-19 in the SEC in his three seasons.
