HOOVER, Ala. – Florida defensive backs Duke Dawson and Marcell Harris joined Frank Frangie and Hays Carlyon of 1010XL Jax Sports Radio during SEC Media Days.
Dawson and Harris enter the 2017 season as the leaders of a secondary that lost cornerbacks Quincy Wilson and Jalen “Teez” Tabor, as well as safety Marcus Maye this offseason.
Dawson, who previously played at both the nickel corner position and safety, discussed his new role as a starting cornerback entering fall camp.
“Personally, I feel like I can play any position on the field,” Dawson said. “I know during the last three years at Florida I’ve been moved around a lot and it really helped me. My talent is more than being just a corner or being a one-dimensional guy.”
Harris, who led the Gators in tackles (73) last season, was crucial in several fourth down stops last season, including Florida’s win at LSU to win the SEC East title.

“Wrap them up, get them down and play the next play,” Harris said. “That’s one of the mentalities that we’ve had and the defense got a great push and helped us out and that’s just how we went about the whole process.”
