What does Florida’s kicking future look like? Thanks in no small part to Dan Mullen, Gators fans now have one big part of their answer.
Three-star kicker Evan McPherson flipped his commitment from Mississippi State to Florida over the weekend, announcing his decision on Twitter.

McPherson (6 feet 0, 165 pounds), from Fort Payne (Ala.) High in northeast Alabama, is considered one of the top three prep kickers in the nation.
McPherson’s move represents a big gain for the Gators and a loss for Mississippi State, where he had been committed since April 8. His other Power Five offers included Kentucky, Iowa State, Nebraska and Rutgers.
McPherson’s commitment fills an area of need should Eddy Pineiro, a junior, elect to leave early for the NFL Draft.
With McPherson’s decision, the Gators now have 13 committed players in their 2018 class. He’s the second player to commit since Mullen’s hiring and the school’s first pickup since three-star offensive tackle Chris Bleich of Plymouth (Pa.) Wyoming Valley West committed November 29.
