Florida set to hire West Virginia RB coach JaJuan Seider as assistant

Look for Florida to announce the hiring of West Virginia running backs coach JaJuan Seider in the next few days.

Sources tell GN that Seider – a Belle Glade, Fla., native who has been at WVU for four seasons – seems likely to assume that same role at Florida, with current running back coach Tim Skipper moving to defense in some capacity. Skipper was a college linebacker and has spent much of his coaching career as a linebacker coach.

Florida’s linebacker coach the past two seasons was Randy Shannon, who was promoted to defensive coordinator. He replaced Geoff Collins in that role, and Collins did not oversee a position group while he was DC. Even if Skipper moves to linebacker coach, Shannon seems likely to keep his hand in there.

Seider, 38, also was running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Marshall from 2010-12. He is considered especially well-versed in recruiting south Florida.

Florida currently has two openings on its staff, with Jim McElwain also hunting for a new offensive line coach after Mike Summers left for Louisville earlier this month.
