“He was hilarious and sarcastic, but he was also an offensive genius,” Small said of the Head Ball Coach. “Anything he drew up on the sideline, it worked. We had our main play call, but he would tag on or two people on the sideline and next thing you know it was a touchdown, or a big play.
“He was just smart and he could read the defense very well and see what was going to work. He just had all the right tools.”
Small is currently the head football coach of Lee High School in Jacksonville. Small has helped lead Lee to three consecutive state playoff appearances.
