Shawn Jordan’s quest to become the World Series of Fighting heavyweight champion lasted less than two minutes.

Jordan, a former LSU fullback, lost in the first round by technical knockout to champion Blagoy Ivanov in the heavyweight title at WSOF 35 Saturday night in Verona, New York.

Ivanov used a jab-cross combo to cause Jordan to stagger backward and fall down on his back on the mat. With Ivanov on top of him and nowhere to go, the referee stopped the fight at 1:43 of the round.

It was Ivanov’s third consecutive title defense and improved his overall record to 15-1.  For Jordan, the loss, his first in the WSOF, dropped former UFC heavyweight’s career record to 19-8.

The fight was the main event for WSOF 35.

Jordan played at LSU from 2003-07, winning two national titles during his time with the Tigers. He previously fought with the UFC from 2012-15.
