Backed with a confident quarterback and a phenomenal run game, led by Terrell Davis, the Denver Broncos would go on to become back-to-back Super Bowl champions in 1997 and 1998. The Broncos’ outstanding defense was also a major reason for their success at the time.
It should also be noted that the Broncos changed their iconic uniforms in 1997. After the heartbreaking loss to the Jags at home, it was time for a new look, apparently. Guess what the Jaguars will be doing this offseason? That’s right. Changing their uniforms.
The image change was needed following the 2016 season, but it’s now obvious that these Jaguars are far removed from the Gus Bradley/Mike Mularkey era teams. It’s Super Bowl or bust from here on out. Similar to the Broncos of the late 1990s, the pieces are now in place to make a run.
With all of the questions about Blake Bortles and whether the Jags will make a run at Kirk Cousins, we should also recognize that we know what we have with Bortles and Cousins is still an unknown to an extent.
What if the Denver Broncos gave up on John Elway because of his early career struggles?
