Five SEC offers in three weeks: To say that the travel calendar for three-star offensive tackle Jerome Carvin is filling up would be an understatement.
“I went to Kentucky ‘Junior Day’ back on January 28 and I attended Louisville ‘Junior Day’ February 18,” Carvin told GN. “I’ll be going to Ole Miss ‘Junior Day’ on February 25. I have visits planned to Missouri on March 4 and to Tennessee on March 10. I also plan to visit both South Carolina and Mississippi State as well.”
Carvin (6 feet 4, 315 pounds), from Cordova (Tenn.) High, just outside of Memphis, is among the top-80 offensive tackle prospects nationally in the class of 2018, but appears to be rising up the recruiting boards.
Since January 31, Carvin has been offered by Missouri, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi State and, just this past week, Ole Miss. When you combine those with his Kentucky offer he got back in 2016, Carvin has offers from almost half of the programs in the SEC.

Along with the six SEC schools, Carvin also has picked up offers from Louisville and Memphis.
“I don’t really have a leader right now,” Carvin said. “I’m still weighing my options, but I have schools I’m looking into a lot further. I’m just blessed for having all these offers and I’m just staying grounded and putting the work in. I thank God for blessing me with the talent that I have.”
Carvin clearly has one thing at the top of his list when looking at a college destination.
“Academics is number one, has to be number one,” Carvin said. “Then the relationship with the coaches and a great conditioning program that can develop me into the player that I want to be.”
Like a true offensive lineman, Carvin says one word comes to mind when talking about the type of football player he is.
“Finish. I’m going to finish everything until the whistle blows,” he said. “I’m going to do everything I can to stay with my quarterback. The times when I pull out in space, I’ll try to find somebody and try to put them on the ground. I’m relentless and non-stop.”
Expect Carvin to commit sooner rather than later.
“I might early enroll, so that might put my commitment date a little sooner,” Carvin said. “I won’t be a last-minute guy. Once I visit all the schools I want to visit, I’ll know where I want to go.”
