A true freshman is the next man up at Arkansas as Bret Bielema looks for a way to replace the Razorbacks’ top cornerback.

True freshman Kamren Curl is listed as the starter at corner in the depth chart released by Bielema ahead of Saturday’s meeting with TCU. Curl is taking the place of Ryan Pulley, who will miss the rest of the season after injuring his shoulder in a season-opening victory over Florida A&M.

Curl was a three-star recruit from Muskogee (Okla.) High who was recruited as a safety. He impressed the coaching staff in preseason camp and has risen rapidly up the depth chart. He finished the FAMU victory with three tackles and a pass breakup.

Another true freshman, Chevin Calloway, now is shown as the second-stringer at the position. Calloway, considered the Razorbacks’ top recruit in the 2017 class, made one tackle on Thursday.

Another true freshman, Ty Clary, now is shown as the starter at right guard, with Johnny Gibson moving to right tackle and Brian Wallace dropping to the bench. Clary, Calloway and Curl are among nine true freshmen on the Razorbacks’ depth chart.

The Razorbacks looked good in their opener, but this week’s game will tell far more about Bielema’s team. While the Hogs opened as a one-point favorite at home, they now are three-point underdogs. If that line intrigues you, likely can help.
