Kentucky continues surge up SEC Power Rankings

Last week’s result: Lost to Vanderbilt 45-31

With Saturday’s loss to Vanderbilt, Arknasas has now lost seven of its last eight games under Chad Morris. The Razorbacks have LSU, Mississippi State, and Missouri left on the schedule to try to find their first SEC win in 2018.

13. Vanderbilt (4-5)

Last week’s ranking: 13

Last week’s result: Defeated Arkansas 45-31

The Dores scored on four of their last five drives after taking a 21-14 lead into halftime. Running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn had 26 carries for 172 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

12. Tennessee (3-5)

Last week’s ranking: 12

Last week’s result: Lost to South Carolina 27-24

Despite taking a 14-9 lead into halftime, the Vols were outscored in the second half 18-10. The Vols failed to convert two fourth down tries on their last two drives while tied or trailing by a field goal. Nine penalties resulting in a loss of 75 yards didn’t help the cause.

This week: Host Charlotte, 4:00 p.m. ET

11. Missouri (4-4)

Last week’s ranking: 9

Last week’s result: Lost to Kentucky 15-14.

Missouri held the lead for the entire game, but a late pass interference call gave Kentucky the one more play it needed to take the lead. The Tigers were failed to gain a first down in eight second half drives totaling 34 yards of offense on those eight drives.

10. Ole Miss (5-3)

9. Auburn (5-3)

8. South Carolina (4-3)

Last week’s ranking: 8

Last week’s result: Defeated Tennessee 27-24

South Carolina rallied from 12 points down. After scoring their first touchdown late in the second quarter, the Gamecocks scored on every drive in the second half. Running back Rico Dowdle lead the Team offensively with 14 carries, 140 yards and one touchdown.

This week: At Ole Miss, 12:00 p.m. ET on the SEC Network

7. Texas A&M (5-3)

Last week’s ranking: 5

Last week’s result: Lost to Mississippi State 28-13

The Aggies rushed for a measly 2.8 yards per rush against the Bulldogs. Texas A&M played well against the Bulldogs run game, but gave up a huge 76-yard touchdown run to Nick Fitzgerald that put the Bulldogs up two scores with two minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

This week: At Auburn, 12:00 p.m. ET on ESPN

6. Mississippi State (5-3)

Last week’s ranking: 7

Last week’s result: Defeated Texas A&M 28-13

Nick Fitzgerald had his most complete game of the year going 14-of-22 for 241 yards passing and one touchdown and 88 yards rushing, with a 76-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

This week: vs. Louisiana Tech, 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network
