Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin told fans Thursday at the Houston Touchdown Club they better get a “long look” at Aggies wide receiver Christian Kirk in 2017 because he likely won’t be back in 2018 for this senior season.

Kirk was the Aggies’ leader in receptions last season with 83; those catches were good for 928 yards and nine touchdowns. He had 80 receptions for 1,009 receiving yards and seven touchdowns as a freshman in 2015.

Sumlin’s statement wasn’t really a revelation, as Kirk is showing up as a potential first-round pick in almost every early mock draft for 2018.

With a 90-catch, 1,181-yard season this fall, Kirk would become the school’s career leader in catches and receiving yards.
