Mississippi State added to its 2019 recruiting class on Wednesday, receiving a commitment from three-star wide receiver Kyziah Pruitt.
“When the new coaches came in, they welcomed me with open arms,” Pruitt told GN. “I like the environment because every time that I go there I feel like I’m at home. I feel like it was time to make a decision and I’m comfortable and 100 percent with it.”
Pruitt and head coach Joe Moorhead have hit it off during the recruiting process.
“I love him and he is just like one of the guys,” Pruitt said. “He’s great with the guys and he just makes you feel like it’s your home. He’s a great guy and I’m looking forward to playing for him.”
Pruitt, (5-feet-11, 185 pounds) from Macon, (MS) Noxubee County, is among the top-20 prospects in Mississippi for the 2019 class. Pruitt committed to Mississippi State over offers from Indiana, Memphis, Southern Miss, Western Kentucky and others.
Pruitt says he really didn’t give Mississippi State a close look until Moorhead arrived in Starkville.
“I was, but I wasn’t when Mullen was there,” Pruitt said. “I hope he does good things at Florida, but I don’t think his system fit me. The new system that Joe Moorhead is bringing in with that new offense I feel is the best offense for me.”
What type of wide receiver is Pruitt?
“I’m a guy that can catch a 10-yard pass and take it to the house,” Pruitt said. “I’m a big, physical guy and when you throw it, I’m going to go get it. That’s pretty much my game.”
Growing up in Mississippi and now committing to Mississippi State is special for Pruitt.
“You know growing up you always dreamed about this type of thing,” Pruitt said. “Now that it’s real and I actually have a chance to do it, it’s just amazing.”
Pruitt had this message for the Mississippi State fan base.
“I’m ready to get to work with the guys because I know we can do something big and something special. We can bring one of those championships to Mississippi State.”
With Pruitt’s commitment, the Mississippi State 2019 recruiting class now sits at 13.
According to 247sports.com Mississippi State currently has a top-10 recruiting class nationally for the 2019 recruiting cycle.
