O’Neal (6 feet 1, 190 pounds), from Cypress (Texas) Cy Srings in the Houston suburbs, originally committed to Texas A&M in June 2017. He re-opened his recruitment in early December, after Kevin Sumlin was fired.
But the new A&M staff made O’Neal a priority, bringing him in for a visit on December 9. O’Neal unofficially visited College Station this past weekend, then announced Monday he would become an Aggie.
O’Neal also visited Clemson, Georgia and Oklahoma, and he also was heavily recruited by Alabama.
O’Neal is considered one of the top-10 safeties in the nation and is a top-75 prospect overall. He currently is A&M’s highest-rated recruit.
