LSU continues march up SEC Power Rankings after Auburn win

LSU celebrates win at Auburn

14. Arkansas

Last week’s ranking: 14

Not only was Arkansas embarrassed by North Texas on a fake fair catch of a punt return, the Razorbacks were further embarrassed in actually losing to the Mean Green by a score of 44-17. There’s a real possibility that Arkansas doesn’t win another game this year as sports betting sites are likely to have them as an underdog in every remaining contest with the possible exception of a home game against Tulsa October 20.

They’ll face Auburn next week.

13. Florida

Last week’s ranking: 13

The Gators bounced back this week with a 48-10 win over Colorado State. We’ll see just how much Florida has improved when it visits Tennessee Saturday.

12. Vanderbilt

Last week’s ranking: 12

Vanderbilt stays put at 12 after going to Notre Dame and almost mounting a 12-point, fourth quarter comeback against the Irish. The Dores return to SEC East action this week hosting South Carolina.

11. Tennessee

Last week’s ranking: 11

Tennessee struggled to put points on the board against UTEP, but did hold the Miners scoreless. Tennessee will need to figure out how to score more quickly against Florida.

10. Ole Miss

Last week’s ranking: 9

Ole Miss started hot as the Rebels scored on the very first play of the game against Alabama thanks to a 75-yard touchdown pass. The Tide answered by scoring 62 unanswered points in Oxford.

It’s one thing to get beat, but to get beat THAT bad at home is embarrassing.

Ole Miss tries to bounce back this week against Kent State at home.

9. South Carolina

Last week’s ranking: 10

South Carolina’s game against Marshall was cancelled due to Hurricane Florence. The Gamecocks will be on the road at Vanderbilt this week.

8. Missouri

Last week’s ranking: 8

Missouri had a 27-10 lead late into the second quarter before needing a game winning field goal to beat Purdue. Granted, it was a road win against a Power 5 team so the win is a quality one.

The Tigers host Georgia on Saturday.

7. Kentucky

Last week’s ranking: 7

Kentucky stayed unbeaten with a 48-10 win against Murray State. The Wildcats started slow and picked up the pace in the second half outscoring the Racers 31-7.

Kentucky hosting Mississippi State is a sneaky-good and important SEC game this week.
