LSU continues march up SEC Power Rankings after Auburn win

6. Texas A&M

Last week’s ranking: 6

Texas A&M bounced back from the Clemson loss with a big 48-10 home win against Louisiana-Monroe. Kellen Mond had two rushing touchdowns and another one through the air.

The Aggies travel to Alabama this week.

5. Mississippi State

Last week’s ranking: 5

Nick Fitzgerald accounted for 350 yards of offense and six touchdowns in the Bulldogs 56-10 drubbing of Louisiana-Lafayette last Saturday.

Mississippi State and Kentucky, both undefeated, meet this week.

4. Auburn

Last week’s ranking: 3

Auburn took a four-point lead with a 1:31 to go in the second quarter and carried an 11-point lead late into the third quarter before LSU mounted a fourth quarter comeback and kicked the game winning field goal.

Auburn hosts Arkansas on Saturday.

3. LSU

Last week’s ranking: 4

LSU continues moving up our rankings and does so by defeating its second top-10 team this season. The Tigers have surprised almost everyone with their play so far, including me.

LSU hosts Louisiana Tech this week.

2. Georgia

Last week’s ranking: 2

Georgia scored 28 unanswered points in the first half before Middle Tennessee sniffed the end zone. The Bulldogs finished off the Blue Raiders 49-7.

Georgia’s defense will have its first real test of the season at Missouri Saturday.

1. Alabama

Last week’s ranking: 1

The Tide scored 50-plus points in its third straight game, becoming the first SEC team to score 50+ in its first three games of the season ever.

Former Nick Saban assistant Jimbo Fisher brings Texas A&M to Tuscaloosa this week.
