Here’s a look at the top three individual performances by SEC players from the weekend.
3. Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson
The skinny: Johnson continued to put up impressive numbers in the Tigers’ expected rout of Ole Miss. Johnson, a junior, piled up 230 yards of total offense and rushed for a career-high 204 yards; he also had three touchdowns, giving him 11 in the past three games and 12 on the season. Johnson opened the scoring with a 17-yard run midway through the first quarter, then added a 48-yard run early in the second quarter for a 28-3 lead, then a 5-yarder midway through the period for a 35-3 advantage. He is fourth in the SEC with 504 rushing yards and he leads the nation with the 12 TD runs.
2. Alabama DE Raekwon Davis
The skinny: Davis, a sophomore, had the best game of his career in the Tide’s victory at Texas A&M. He had eight tackles – he came in with 18 career stops – and added a sack and a fumble recovery. Davis was a big part of a solid defensive effort that limited the Aggies to 308 total yards, including just 71 on the ground. Four plays after Davis’ fumble recovery, Alabama scored a TD to make it 17-3 late in the first quarter. His sack came late in the third quarter.
1. LSU LB Devin White
The skinny: White, a sophomore, tied his career-high with 13 tackles in the Tigers’ 17-16 victory at Florida; he also had 13 stops in LSU’s win over Syracuse earlier this season. White also had a sack and a pass breakup as the Tigers rebounded from last week’s embarrassing loss to Troy. His work helped LSU limit Florida to 302 total yards; the Gators were just 2-of-9 on third down. White now has 62 tackles, by far the most for the Tigers; No. 2 is DE Christian LaCouture, who has 38.
