How does someone qualify as one of the top athletic freaks of the NFL Draft? Well, breaking the combine 40 record would do the job, and one major analyst believes an LSU star could achieve the feat.
Writing for SI.com, Bruce Feldman lists LSU cornerback Donte Jackson among his top 10 athletic freaks of the draft performing at the NFL Combine.
The reason? Pure, raw speed.
With Jackson’s 10.22 time recorded in competition at the SEC Relays, Feldman believes there’s a chance that the lightning-quick Tiger could threaten the 4.22 40 mark set last year by Washington wide receiver John Ross.
He’ll have his chance to do it when defensive backs test in the 40-yard-dash on Monday, March 5th.
If Jackson accomplishes that, just watch his draft stock soar even further.
He’s far from the first LSU player to make Feldman’s annual pre-combine list of athletic sensations. Last year, running back Leonard Fournette came in at No. 5 on the list on his way to a fourth overall selection from the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jackson finished the 2017 season with 49 tackles, one interception, 10 pass breakups and a sack while starting 12 games for the Tigers.
