For LSU fans wondering how Ed Orgeron would choose to use his new slot for a 10th assistant, there’s no need to wonder about that any more.
The Tigers hired Rutgers assistant Bill Busch to coach safeties, the athletic department announced Thursday. The hiring makes Busch the 10th assistant and completes the 2018 staff under Orgeron.
Busch had been serving as co-defensive coordinator at Rutgers and also has worked at Ohio State. Most likely, though, his prior work at Wisconsin, where he worked under current LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, was instrumental in bringing him to Baton Rouge.
He also has past stints as an assistant under two national championship-winning coaches: Tom Osborne at Nebraska in the early 1990s and Urban Meyer at Utah in the early 2000s.
