LSU is set to lose its offensive line coach but already has a replacement in mind.

Multiple reports say LSU line coach Jeff Grimes is leaving to become BYU’s offensive coordinator, and Sports Illustrated reports that LSU coach Ed Orgeron plans to hire Los Angeles Chargers assistant offensive line coach James Cregg as Grimes’ replacement.

Cregg worked with Orgeron when both were assistants at Tennessee and USC.

As for Grimes, he was BYU’s offensive line coach from 2004-06, and has made stops at Colorado, Auburn, Virginia Tech and LSU since. He is in his fourth season at LSU. He will be a first-time offensive coordinator for BYU, which fired OC Ty Detmer after the season.
