LSU quarterback commit Peter Parrish ‘surprised’ by offer from Tigers

The LSU Tigers are one of the hottest teams in the country on the 2019 recruiting trail. Ed Orgeron has added nine commitments to his class in the past two month alone, including a recent commitment from four-star duel-threat quarterback Peter Parrish.

“I went to their camp a day before I got the offer,” Parrish told GN. “I did really well at camp and the next day we were driving back from LSU and my parents were talking to Coach {Ed} Orgeron on the phone.

“It was kind of a surprise and my parents wanted me to talk to him for myself. I called him and he gave me the offer and I was very surprised. It is a great feeling because not a lot of people get an offer from a program like LSU.”

Parrish says his relationship with Orgeron is a strong one.

“It’s been great and I talk to him every day through texts or calls. I talk to him every day about anything, so we have a great relationship.”

Parrish, (6-foot-1, 198 pounds) from Phenix City, AL, is among the top-15 duel-threat quarterbacks in the country and is also a top 325 overall recruit nationally for the 2019 recruiting cycle.

“I really try not to let that get to my head,” Parrish said regarding his high national ranking. “I really just try to focus on my game and not let that get to my head.”

Parrish, who committed to LSU over offers from Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri and many others, embraces the duel-threat quarterback title he has been given.

“I’m a duel-threat quarterback that likes to throw and run,” he said. “I will go through all my checks first, but if I have to make a play out of the pocket than I will definitely make that play.

“I do everything I can to win because I love to win. I’m also a hard-worker that stays in the film room and the weight room constantly working on my craft.”

For Parrish, who grew up in the heart of SEC territory – Phenix City is about 30 miles from Auburn – committing to a program like LSU is a dream come true.
