LSU junior wide receiver D.J. Chark announced Monday on Twitter that he will be returning to the Tigers for his senior season in 2017.

“After long conversations with my family, as well as my magnificent mentor and coach, Coach (Dameyune Craig), I decided to return to LSU for my senior season and finish what I started,” Chark wrote.

Chark, who did not record a single catch during his first two seasons at LSU, caught 26 passes for 466 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Chark also indicated that he would switch his jersey number from No. 82 to No. 7 next season. Former Tigers running back Leonard Fournette, who has declared early for the NFL draft, has worn the latter number the past three years.

Junior wide receiver Malachi Dupre, who led LSU in receiving this season with 41 catches for 593 yards and three touchdowns, has not yet announced a decision about the NFL draft.

LSU also will lose senior wide receiver Travin Dural next season. He was the team’s third-leading receiver with 28 receptions for 280 yards and one touchdown.

Along with Fournette, defensive lineman Davon Godchaux and safety Jamal Adams have announced they will leave school early for the NFL draft.

Defensive lineman Christian LaCouture announced last month that he will return as a fifth-year senior in 2017.
