Next in line? Draft analyst sees Marcell Frazier following Mizzou pass rush tradition

Marcell Frazier

After years of Aldon Smith, Shane Ray and Charles Harris, is Marcell Frazier about to become Missouri’s next big-time pass rusher? One major NFL draft analyst thinks so.

NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein named Frazier as one of his 10 edge rushers to watch this season.

Zierlein describes Frazier as a “hyperkinetic defender with an abundance of energy and movement in his play.” Zierlein also praised Frazier’s “outstanding reactive athleticism, change of direction and closing burst.”

Frazier, a fifth-year senior, had 7.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss last season, and played especially well down the stretch.

Frazier is from Portland, Ore., and arrived at Mizzou after playing junior college ball at College of the Siskiyous in Weed, Calif., which is in the northern part of the state.

Zierlein’s list of edge rushers to watch also included Jabari Zuniga of Florida and Arden Key of LSU.

Zierlein isn’t the only one paying attention to Frazier. The Mizzou edge rusher has also worked his way onto the preseason watch lists for both the Bednarik Award and the Nagurski Trophy, presented to the nation’s top defensive player.

What does Frazier think of all this preseason attention? Who knows, as he announced last month he would not be speaking to the local media this season.
