Who’s the latest former Mississippi State player to be honored with a billboard? This week, it’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Johnthan Banks.
The school has produced digital billboards that feature the Tampa Bay Buccaneers corner at two locations in the Tampa area, Mississippi State announced Friday.

The billboards will be located along Interstate-275 through Sunday, when Banks and the Bucs face the Super Bowl 50 champion Denver Broncos.
Earlier this year, Mississippi State started the billboard promotion in Dallas, posting five billboards – a number since increased – featuring former MSU and current Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Mississippi State announced the expansion of the program in September and also posted similar billboards in Philadelphia for former Bulldogs defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month on Thursday.
Banks, a fourth-year cornerback for the Buccaneers, has seven career interceptions in 48 games. Tampa Bay selected him in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft.
At Mississippi State, he was a four-year starter and won the 2012 Jim Thorpe Award, presented annually to the top defensive back in college football. Banks is the only Mississippi State player to win that honor.
