Mississippi State’s Jeffery Simmons reminds Ole Miss who won Egg Bowl because Easter

Jeffery Simmons

Even months later, Jeffery Simmons apparently doesn’t want Ole Miss to forget that Mississippi State is the reigning Egg Bowl champions.

Simmons, a Bulldogs defensive lineman, directed some apparent friendly trash talk in the direction of the Rebels on Twitter Sunday.

Simmons wrote that he “found the egg” and that it was “where it belong” with a photo of himself holding the Egg Bowl trophy attached.

Because Sunday was Easter and the association of eggs with the holiday, it seems likely that’s why Simmons happened to bring up the Egg Bowl.

Mississippi State beat Ole Miss, 55-20, in Oxford last November following a two-game Rebels winning streak in the series.

Simmons, a former five-star prospect, also is a Mississippi native (from Macon), so he grew up with the rivalry. He picked Mississippi State over Ole Miss, as well as Alabama and Tennessee.

Simmons had 40 tackles (three for a loss), two passes defended and two forced fumbles in 13 games played as a true freshman last season.
