NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein believes Florida State defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi is among the top 11 college football defensive linemen to watch in 2017.
“Nnadi carries a low center of gravity that allows him to strike with ‘low-man’ pad level when he punches, providing him a good starting point at the point of attack when playing the run,” Zierlein writes. “His motor and plus awareness allow him to make more tackles than the average nose, and his six sacks last season are indicative of his willingness to play through the whistle.”
Nnadi ranked fifth among all players on Florida State’s defense last season with 49 tackles, which included 10.5 for a loss and six sacks. He also one pass breakup, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
For his efforts, Nnadi was named a first-team All-ACC selection by the coaches.
Clemson defensive tackles Dexter Lawrence (No. 9) and Christian Wilkins (No. 2) were the only other ACC players ranked on Zierlein’s list.
Nnadi will be a senior this fall.
