NFL draft analyst compares LSU’s Derrius Guice to LaDainian Tomlinson

Derrius Guice

How good is LSU running back Derrius Guice? One respected NFL draft analyst said he compares to NFL Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson.

NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah compared Guice to Tomlinson as well as current Indianapolis Colt Frank Gore in a piece for NFL.com.

Jeremiah wrote that he sees “a little bit of LaDainian Tomlinson in his running style,” and added that Gore might be an even closer comparison.

Considering that Tomlinson ranks fifth on the NFL’s career rushing list with 13,684 yards and Gore is eighth with 13,065, that’s elite territory.

Jeremiah said Guice has “home run speed” to go with excellent elusiveness, a contrast with the more powerful style of LSU predecessor Leonard Fournette.

Guice, who led the SEC with 1,387 rushing yards last season, needs 1,037 yards this year to move into the Tigers’ all-time top five, behind Kevin Faulk, Dalton Hilliard, Charles Alexander and Fournette. He needs 2,007 to get into the top four.
