One big mover in our Week 2 SEC Power Rankings

LSU Tigers

6. Mississippi State

No Nick Fitzgerald, no problem. Backup quarterback Keytaon Thompson threw for 364 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 109 yards and adding two more touchdowns on the ground.

The Bulldogs will have a tougher opponent in week two as they travel to Kansas State on Saturday.

5. LSU

The only team to move up in the poll this week (the Tigers were 7th last week), LSU handled Miami on the big stage Sunday night and did so easily, 33-17. The Tigers defense looked great as usual getting some help on a pick six and never allowing the Hurricanes offense a chance to get into a rhythm until it was too late.

LSU hosts Southeast Louisiana this week

4. South Carolina

Jake Bentley was 22-of-29 for 250 yards while distributing four touchdowns to four different receivers as the Gamecocks rolled to a 49-15 win over Coastal Carolina.

South Carolina will look to take the lead in the East as they welcome in Georgia on Saturday.

3. Auburn

The Auburn defense was better than advertised as the Tigers held Washington to a single touchdown all game. The offense was less than stellar in the second half, but a 10 play, 75-yard drive in the fourth quarter sealed the win.

Auburn welcomes in Alabama State on Saturday.

2. Georgia

The Bulldogs blanked Austin Peay in week one holding the Governors to just 152 total yards and seven first downs. Jake Fromm threw two touchdowns while the Bulldogs averaged 8.6 yards-per-carry on the ground.

The Bulldogs go on the road to South Carolina this week.

1. Alabama

The quarterback controversy is over as Tua Tagovailoa led Alabama to a 21-0 lead in on three of the Tide’s first four drives as Alabama cruised to a 51-14 win in Orlando against Louisville. Tagovailoa finished 12-of-16 for 227 yards passing and two touchdowns while adding 26 rushing yards on five carries and a rushing touchdown to his stat line.

Alabama will welcome in Arkansas State on Saturday.
