Former Tennessee wide receiver Alton “Pig” Howard has found an NFL home and will reunite with a familiar face.
Howard signed with the Chicago Bears on Monday, and will reunite with former Vols wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni, who accepted the same job with the Bears this offseason. Chicago waived kicker Andy Phillips to make room for the former Tennessee wide receiver.

Howard was dismissed by Tennessee for an unspecified violation of team rules in 2015, during what was supposed to be his senior season. During his time with the Vols, he had 99 receptions for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns, as well as 202 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 35 attempts.
Before his dismissal, Howard caught one pass for 8 yards during his final season.
Azzanni coached the Vols for four seasons, joining the program in 2013 as a member of Butch Jones’ first coaching staff in Knoxville. The two previously had coached together at Central Michigan (2007-09), where Azzanni coached future NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Antonio Brown.
