In honor of the NFL Network counting down its Top 100 players, an annual series revealing the top 100 players in the league as voted on by their peers, GN takes a look at the best Florida players in the NFL.

Fifty-four former Gators are on NFL rosters as of May 15. Of those 54, GN has selected the top 10 current NFL players who played for the orange and blue.

Let the debate begin.

  1. Trey Burton, tight end, Chicago Bears

After his career at Florida, Burton was not selected in the 2014 NFL Draft and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent. Burton’s career in the NFL got off to a slow start as he recorded just three receptions for 54 yards in 2014 and 2015 combined.

Beginning in 2016, Burton began to establish himself as more of an option in the Eagles’ passing game. Burton has recorded 60 catches for 575 yards and six touchdowns when you combine his numbers in 2016 and 2017.

Burton’s NFL career is best known for what he did just months ago when the one-time Gator quarterback threw a touchdown pass to Nick Foles in Super Bowl 52. The play was known as the ‘Philly Special,” and it is the signature moment of Burton’s career in the NFL.

On March 14, 2018, Burton signed a four-year, $32 million deal with the Chicago Bears.

  1. Dante Folwer, Jr., defensive end, Jacksonville Jaguars

After being named First-Team All-SEC by the coaches, Fowler would forgo his senior season in Gainesville and declare for the 2015 NFL Draft.

The Jaguars selected Fowler with the third overall selection, but disaster would strike just days later as Fowler suffered a season-ending torn ACL at Jaguars rookie mini-camp.

After missing the entire 2015 season, Fowler made his NFL debut in 2016. Despite only starting one career game for the Jaguars, Fowler has proven he can get to the quarterback.

Fowler has recorded 12 quarterback sacks in his two years in the NFL, including an eight-sack campaign in 2017.

Fowler will once again be counted on to be a key contributor of the Jaguar defensive front in 2018.
