It appears that East Mississippi Community College no longer will be featured on the popular Netflix documentary series “Last Chance U,” as numerous reports say the next stop will be Independence (Kan.) Community College.

Tyreik McCallum is an Independence CC signee who has been quoted as saying the show would be there.

“The defensive coordinator called me on the phone and said they would be filming ‘Last Chance U,’ ” McCallum told the Robesonian newspaper in Lumberton, North Carolina.

The show’s director, Greg Whiteley, recently told USA Today that he sensed season two would be the last at EMCC.

“We’ve talked about going to a different school,” he told the newspaper.

EMCC coach Buddy Stephens may be relieved at the news as he seemed to grow increasingly agitated with the cameras following his every move for two seasons.

Arkansas defensive tackle commit Emmit Gooden is set to play for Independence CC in 2017. Former Razorbacks wide receiver Jojo Robinson attended the junior college in 2016 before signing to play for Texas Tech this season.

Independence is a town of about 9,500 residents in the southeast corner of Kansas, about 20 miles north of the Oklahoma border.
