Alabama appears set to raid another SEC team’s coaching staff to finalize its own.
Various media reports say the Tide will hire Kentucky co-defensive coordinator/secondary coach Derrick Ansley.
Ansley, who was promoted to co-DC by UK coach Mark Stoops last month, is expected to take over as Alabama’s secondary coach. He will replace Mel Tucker, who left to become the defensive coordinator/secondary coach for Georgia under new coach Kirby Smart.
Ansley has coached at Alabama in the past, as a graduate assistant. From there he went to Tennessee in 2012 and then to Kentucky in 2013. While with the Wildcats, Ansley — an Alabama native — coached the secondary the past three seasons.
