Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones will miss the remainder of the season with a torn rotator cuff, Dolphins coach Adam Gase announced Wednesday.
Jones, a former Georgia safety, suffered the injury during last Sunday’s 30-15 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers and will be placed on injured reserve.
Jones had started all six of Miami’s games so far this season, with 51 tackles, an interception and four passes defended.
Last season, Jones led the Dolphins in tackles (135) and interceptions (five), despite playing with a torn labrum. Now in his seventh season in the NFL, all with the Dolphins, he has 16 career interceptions.
During his Georgia career, Jones twice won second-team All-SEC honors and was a second-team All-American in 2008. The Dolphins selected him in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
