Four-star offensive tackle Reuben Unije, considered one of the top 15 players at his potion nationally and a top-200 prospect overall, says he will announce his college choice on November 19, his birthday.

“I’m still picking through my options,” Unije told GN. “I don’t really have any favorites right now. I just go with the schools that are recruiting me the hardest.”

So, which schools are recruiting Unije the hardest?

“Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA and Virginia Tech,” he said.

Unije (6 feet 5, 303 pounds) had starred at Alpharetta (Ga.) Johns Creek in the Atlanta suburbs, but he has transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for his senior season. (A former Johns Creek teammate is tight end Tommy Tremble, who recently received a Georgia offer.)

Playing time will not be a major factor for Unije when he makes his college decision.

“I want a good relationship with the coaching staff,” Unije said. “Playing time is not a big factor because colleges can tell you will start when you come in, but some people still don’t.

“I know that wherever I go, I’m going to play early. I’m that confident in myself and in my skill set to know as a true freshman I’m going to play and make freshman All-American teams. I know that.”

Unije says he is an athletic offensive tackle.

“The strength of my game is my athleticism,” he said. “I have really quick feet and I can stay on my run block because I’m so athletic. I’m really explosive and I do well out in space.”

Transferring to IMG Academy has prepared Unije for the recruiting process.

“The guys from last year, they tell me the ins and outs of recruiting, the stuff I didn’t know and the questions I didn’t know to ask,” Unije said. “They tell me what to look for and they really help me become more intellectual about the recruiting process.”

Unije is scheduled to have a busy travel schedule in the next few weeks.

“I’m going to try to make it to either Alabama’s spring game or Tennessee’s spring game,” Unije said. “I’m also going to try to make it to Florida at some point.”
