Las Vegas believes USC’s Sam Darnold is the most likely winner of the Heisman Trophy in December, but a few SEC players aren’t far behind.

Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield and Louisville’s Lamar Jackson, the 2016 winner, are the current second and third choices. For those who watched Darnold’s close to the 2016 season, particularly his sensational performance to defeat Penn State 52-49 in the Rose Bowl, it’s no big surprise.
But several SEC stars are firmly in the hunt.
Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Bo Scarbrough are listed at 20-1, along with LSU running back Derrius Guice.
Georgia running back Nick Chubb is 25-1, Auburn running back Kamryn Pettway is 30-1 and Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham – who has yet to throw a single pass for the Tigers in a competitive game – comes in at 50-1.
Other SEC players on the list include Alabama defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand (60-1), Texas A&M wide receiver Christian Kirk (80-1), Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason (100-1) and Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley (100-1).
And as tempting long shots go, one could do a lot worse than Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald at 100-1. In his sophomore year, Fitzgerald rushed for 1,375 yards and passed for 2,423 – only 383 fewer yards of total offense than Florida’s Tim Tebow gained in his Heisman-winning season in 2007.
